Students at Owensboro Catholic learn distracted driving dangers

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – Owensboro Catholic High School get a lesson in how looking at their phone instead of the road can harm them.

They took the wheel of an augmented reality driving simulator brought in by the Peers Foundation.

It tracked their eye movement and showed them how long their eyes were off the road while looking at their phones or using social media.

“I think they learn a pretty valuable lesson that anything can distract you, from the radio to the phone to someone talking to you while you’re driving, whether it’s a passenger. Anything can distract you.”

School officials say Owensboro Catholic is the 2nd high school in Kentucky the foundation has visited.
