LANSING, MI. (WILX) – It was probably the only time you’ll see teenagers encouraged to text while being behind the wheel.

Okemos High School hosted a distracted driving simulation for teenagers.
State
Farm sponsored the event, they say it is important for young drivers to
experience this in virtual reality, so they don’t repeat it in reality.
Most of the kids crashed the simulator right when the instructors told them to check their cell phones.
Okemos health teacher, Debby Mitchell says she hopes this lesson sticks with them, after seeing how easy it is to run into someone or something in the short amount of time it takes to read a text message.
